Position Overview
We are looking for a knowledgeable and reliable HVAC Technician to install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role blends hands-on mechanical skills with strong technical knowledge and customer service expertise. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the comfort, efficiency, and air quality of buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Installation: Install HVAC components such as compressors, motors, pipes, ducts, controls, and thermostats. Connect systems to necessary utilities (water, fuel, electrical, and air ducts). Test systems and components for proper operation.
- Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems. Clean and replace filters, inspect ductwork, refill refrigerants, and lubricate moving parts. Calibrate controls and optimize system settings for energy efficiency.
- Repairs and Troubleshooting: Diagnose system malfunctions and identify root causes. Replace or repair defective parts; perform emergency service when needed. Advise customers on system condition, upkeep, and replacement options.
- Compliance and Documentation: Adhere to all HVAC safety codes, building regulations, and environmental standards. Maintain accurate records of work performed, time spent, parts used, and service outcomes. Stay informed on the latest HVAC technologies and best practices.
- Customer Interaction: Provide professional and courteous service to clients. Explain issues and solutions in clear, understandable terms. Offer recommendations for upgrades or system improvements.
- Inventory & Equipment Management: Maintain company-provided tools, equipment, and vehicle in good working order. Track parts and materials usage as part of job documentation.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Vocational or technical training in HVAC systems preferred.
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification.
- Completion of a registered HVAC apprenticeship program, and/or 3–5 years of experience.
- EPA Certification for refrigerant handling (required).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Mechanical Proficiency: Understanding of HVAC systems and components.
- Troubleshooting Ability: Identify problems and determine cost-effective solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure all work meets safety, regulatory, and company standards.
- Physical Capability: Comfortable lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, or on rooftops.
- Communication Skills: Able to explain technical issues clearly to customers, summarize work completed, next steps, and complete work order forms for billing.
- Technological Familiarity: Comfortable with computerized HVAC systems, smart thermostats, and diagnostic tools.
HVAC technicians work in a wide range of environments, including:
- Residential homes.
- Office buildings.
- Schools and universities.
- Hospitals and healthcare facilities.
- Industrial and manufacturing plants.
- Work may take place indoors or outdoors, in tight crawl spaces, attics, or rooftops.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures is common.
- May involve evenings, weekends, or on-call emergency service, especially during peak heating and cooling seasons.

Position Overview
We are a local and dynamic mechanical and plumbing contractor in the Reno/Sparks area, experiencing steady growth. We're looking for an Entry to Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our team and gain hands-on experience in HVAC and Plumbing Design and Project Management for both Residential and Commercial projects. This role offers excellent mentorship under a licensed professional engineer and skilled trades people, and we’re excited to help you grow in your career.
- Assist with mechanical and plumbing system designs for residential and commercial projects
- Draft system schematics using AutoCAD
- Conduct site visits to assess and ensure project compliance with design
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure project success
- Stay engaged with the team to ensure designs and installations are completed within time and budget
- Education: Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (or nearing completion)
- Certification: FE exam passed or scheduled
- Experience: AutoCAD experience a plus, but not required (training provided)
- Skills: Mechanically inclined, strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and eager to learn
- Work Ethic: Ability to follow directions, take initiative, and engage in proactive planning
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a willingness to work in varying jobsite conditions (sometimes loud, dirty, and challenging environments)
